Deepgram Acquires OfOne
Hi everyone — founders Will, Adam, and Ceena here with an exciting update.
We’re thrilled to share that OfOne has been acquired by Deepgram!
When we started OfOne nearly three years ago, we were captivated by the launch of ChatGPT and quickly saw LLM-powered voice AI as a paradigm shift for the restaurant industry.
Restaurants are one of the most important sectors of the economy: millions of employees, billions of guest interactions per year, and a core part of how communities come together. Yet the industry has been under growing pressure: thinning margins, rising costs, labor shortages, and degrading customer experiences.
From day one, we believed that voice AI would be the key to unlocking much needed operational efficiency as so many of the biggest bottlenecks in restaurants are fundamentally voice-driven: order taking, guest communication, and employee coordination. Three years later, this has proven true, but like any startup, the path was far from linear.
As early developers in this voice AI revolution, so little was known, and turning an idea into a production-grade system required real innovation. We focused on the hardest problem in the category — the drive-thru — and approached it from first principles with a small set of forward-thinking partners. We stayed lean, deeply customer-driven, and relentlessly focused on solving the core problem. It was tough, gritty work, and we couldn’t be prouder of the literal blood, sweat, and tears our team put in.
That work paid off. Today, we take thousands of orders every day, power stores across the U.S., and partner with several of the largest players in the industry (with more to come). Along the way, we expanded into additional voice AI applications like phone ordering and analytics. Now it’s time to scale. Enter Deepgram.
Proliferating voice AI across the industry requires solving challenges at the application, infrastructure, and research layers simultaneously. Deepgram’s acquisition of OfOne accelerates this mission. Together, we’re launching a new, vertically focused business unit: Deepgram for Restaurants, dedicated to tackling the hardest problems in the space, bringing the innovations of Deepgram's world-class research teams to the real world.
We’ll work directly with leading restaurant enterprises and technology partners to identify and solve the highest-impact problems, starting with the customers and partners who helped get us here.
Our story is just beginning, but we want to take this opportunity to thank everyone who supported us to this point. More great things to come.
